This event seeks to provide a platform for grassroots organizations, particularly women’s groups, Indigenous Peoples, and local and Afro-descendant communities, to voice effective peoples’ solutions to halt biodiversity loss, providing valuable insights into their approaches, contributing to the three objectives of the Convention, and sharing strategies to overcome challenges in their territories. Additionally, GFC will share the gender impacts of the direct drivers of deforestation and biodiversity loss, including on Indigenous territories, violations of rights of IPLCs, unsustainable livestock production, climate change, infrastructure development and extractive industries, as well as the resistance strategies to enhance peoples’ solutions.
